Engine Swaps 4x4

I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to drop in a 3.0 v6 from a 90 4Runner into a 1982 Toyota 4x4 pickup which has the 22r. I suppose I would need the tranny as well ?

Is there a thread that explains the swapability of toyota engines ? I'm looking for the most straight forward swaps nothing too custom.

I might be able to pickup a 82 Mojave that needs a motor ... just wondering what my best options are.

I know someone more knowledgeable will chime in, but from what I've heard, the gains are so small, and the work so large to do that swap that you're better off keeping a truck 4-cylinder if it came that way from the factory, and the same with V6. Why do you want to "upgrade" to a V6? I've never driven a 4-cyl truck, but I can't imagine that they're much lower powered than the 3.0.

Do some research on the 3.0 before you jump into this project. Most any swap is possible with fabrication skills. The 3.0 might not be your best option for the truck.

Brace yourself for the 3.0 comments. It's generally regarded as a turd.

But for the 3.0 you need the motor, wiring harness, cpu, and the best bet is to take the tranny too. Especially if its an auto. Not to mention the gauges.

A chevy 4.3 would prob be cheaper and easier. You can even buy kits.

If you search around here you will find plenty of engine swap threads. Even a VW diesel swap.

Not to mention that the frame mounts are in a different spot. It would not be worth it in any condition.

yes it is possible and but its proally not a good idea. the 3.0 is less than ideal for a motor swap, some other options you might want to look at are the 3.4 out of the 96+ tacomas/4runners or the chevy 4.3.
