Calling all 1uzfe enthusiasts

Recently acquired a '92 SC400 engine/trans/harness/sensors/fuel tank etc... This was picked up with the intentions of putting in my rockcrawler... Which currently has a 3zve.

The trans needs a rebuild, which is going to slow down this project enough. The engine also needs some freshening up. Appears it had been leaking oil for a while and has high miles. My plans were to seal it up and worry about maintenance items after the swap is completed.

In the interest of time, I started looking for a lower mileage motor. JDMs are readily available and priced fairly. Does anyone know if the fuel rail and injectors are the same as our market? I've read there is a difference between LS and SC injectors. But would a soarer and a sc400 of the same vintage be any different? I realize that JDM motors should be torn down anyways. That will most likely happen once the conversion is operational.

The 1UZ is a very durable engine, even with high miles your likely not going to have to worry about rebuilding the guts, unless something is really screwed up. JDM 1UZFEs are very similar to the USDM ones, except IIRC they do not come with EGR/Emission stuff like most US engines do. I've got a 92' LS400 w/ 200k on it, and I just turbocharged it, and it runs fine.

If it were me, I would try building what you already have, and maybe trying to source another A34(0/1)E tranny, or having yours rebuilt. Since the engine is out of the vehicle, I would do all the maintenance stuff while you have access to everything and have the ability to work 360* around the setup, as opposed to doing the T-belt in an already space confined engine compartment.

IIRC the fuel rails are all the same, as far as the injectors go, I'm not sure about the difference in LS vs. SC motors, but if you use whatever one came with your ECU, it shouldn't matter which one goes in as long as it's been told what to do by the right ECU.

Again, I would tear everything down before it goes it, it's a lot easier to work on, good luck.
