97 5spd 4runner to auto

ok i know im going 5spd to auto trans in my 97 4runner 2wd and 4cyl has anyone done it before? if so how hard is it to do and what would i need to complete it 100% thanks in advance


ps: wife loves the rig but hate pushing the clutch everyday more so when shes done working a 12 hour shift as a nurse on her feet most of the day, Thanks

you need an ecm and wiring harness from and automatic equipped truck.

Gonna need the tranny fluid lines and possibly a new radiator if yours doesn't already have the built in tranny fluid cooler in your current one. Also gonna need the auto console piece and the parts that go along with holding the shifter to the body. Also pedal assembly out of an auto. Feel free to send me all your old manual parts

You don't need a new radiator, get a stand alone trans cooler, you don't have to have a new brake pedal, I welded a plate and gusset on mine. Integrating a TCM will be a big project usnless you can get a 100% automatic harness to replace yours with. The Auto shifter will be fairly simple to swap in.
Yes, I have done this, and a couple of my buddies are getting ready too, autos rule! Check out my threads here and on Pirate lots of info on the swap.
