it's the same adapter. If I'm right, which I'm pretty sure I am, then Cebby is just using the 2wd version of the same tranny. That is why he is having to swap out the tail shaft. He's just doing that so that he is sure that the tranny is going to work with the ECU that he is using with the motor. Good plan since it's the same motor/trans/ecu out of the same vahicle, or at least the same model of vehicle.

Actually in a perfect world, it would have been cool to dump the chain case alltogether run the MC09 in the front and then an MC08 and two gear cases with an FJ-60/62 SA up front.
But alas, I had already commited to the drivers side drop, so the Dana 44 was it.

A few more pieces of the puzzle:

A340F trans and t-case from a 2000 4Runner V6, 67K miles. After checking out the connectors on the trans, I will likely just use this A340F instead of converting the LS trans to 4WD. There are 3 plugs. Two are identical, one is slightly different, but had I think it had the same number of contacts. I'll just need to get a pigtail for the a340f and splice it into my 1UZ harness.
The LS torque converter fits the input perfectly, but it's clear the VZ bellhousing won't work on the UZ engine. It's too short and the bolt pattern is different.
I was investigating the various dual case adapters (MC07, MC08, and MC08-R10) and it was recommended that the MC07 is perfectly fine to use and that there is no significant advantage of using the MC08. See this thread: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=366164

It is longer than I thought it would be (and really heavy). It's going to be 6.5" longer than that.
Either tomorrow or sometime this summer... I really don't know.

I'm willing to bet the "stuff" is the push button shifter motor. That case has alot of crap on it compared to mine, but no where near what the 2001-2002 sensor fest cases have.
None the less you WILL have to get the front MC09 adapter and Marlin is not currently selling that for an Auto right now?
Did you know that? The MC09 will get you from the new tranny to the old case. After that, it's your call.

To my knowledge from what I've read on Marlin's site, the MC09 is a dual case adapter only. It goes between an old junk case to the stock chain drive case. What you are calling the MC09 front adapter is one of 4 transmission adapters.
For the 5 speeds - 27-4GT and 34-4GT.
For the autos - 27-AT and 34-AT.

Ah ha, Geiger changed the wording. They used to call them MC09 front and MC09 rear.
Bottom line is that the "transmission adapter" you want they will not sell for an Auto right now, it blows ATF through the coupler like a garden hose and no one, even in Japan can machine a coupler that has tight enough tollereances.
Cheese has had an ATF bath for over 1 year now. He's not the only one.

Mine still leaks back a little but with a manual it's gear oil to gear oil, no biggie.
I just have to top off the tranny every once in a while and the extra winds up in the last case? Crazy eh? It never goes down far enought to hurt anything and it does eventually stop.

Yeah, that's been putting me on hold too. Last time I called I got a 6 month estimate before the new design would be ready. They have some way of doing a custom one using JB Weld to plug the leak, but....JB Weld inside a thousand$$$$ tranny or transfer case doesn't sound very good.
