1985 to 1989?

Would the body and interior parts from a 1989 4runner fit on a 86' or 87' 4runner? Are all 1st Gen 4runner parts thw same for the most part. Obvious exceptions being the front drive component's.
Thanks for any help I get.

Yes they would. I have a few 89 parts (front bumper, some underhood 22-RE parts) and actually one or two 84-85 parts on my 87. Generally, with older vehicles, the parts are pretty well interchangeable as long as it's the same generation. And I'm not sure if it relates to your question, but I remember seeing somewhere that a guy put the body from an ifs on a solid axle 4runner with no problems, so they must be practically the same thing. I mean, in all fairness, you could mount a truck body on a 4runner if it's a single cab short bed.

What does interior and body part interchangeability have to do with engine swaps?

I agree with Toyminator. But I forgot what forum I was in because I'm just looking at everything about Toyotas because I'm a nerd.

And forgot to mention in my other post that the actual interior of 1st gens are the exact same, minus sub model differences. They still bolt straight in, but mixed sr5 and dlx parts often annoy me. That's just personal preference though.

Should all be interchangeable.
