Red face Wiring and Me!!

Well after reading as many threads as I can with more to go.

Since I am now in the process of doing another ground up truck rebuild I am going with a 3.4 Swap and the R151F Because I have two of these transmissions.

The way I see the wiring I should be able to repin the harness and other connectors as needed

Now my new engine is a Production date of 1/98 Which calls for ECM #89661-3D361

The other was a swap I paid way to much to have done.

Never did get a VIN for the engine vehicle

I just bought a brand new ECM # 89661-3D310 and have a another good used one it would be nice to have the same ECM for both vehicles.

Bought the new ECM to end a very long battle that was intermittent and just about drove me crazy.

Yes I know I need to source plugs for the older ECM to work in the 98 engine Harness. Some one was nice enough to provide numbers thanks !!

If need be or if I have to I could install all the sensors to match the ECM

I also plan to upgrade to the newer style MAF and air filter box.

Questions or comments

Red face

The parts are starting to accumulate I bought a new wiring harness Part # 82121-3D420 ( 97 4x4 MT 4Runner) to go with the ECM part # 89661-3D310 ( 1997 4x4 MT 4Runner )I have .

Ordered the Air intake hose and and a MAF sensor #2204-21010 fabricated the older Air filter Box to accept the new MAF sensor.

Got the cab plug for the ECM part # 90980-11392

I am so glad i have a very Good Parts Manager at Krause Toyota in Fogelsville Pa

Red face Battery relocation??

I don`t really like the idea of moving the battery to the left inner fender .

Yes I can do it pretty easy but I would need to cut and lower the inner fender by a few inches .With the battery I have now.

Maybe get a different battery case something I am also going to research.

I had thought about under the right side floor but way to much underneath the floor .

I am now thinking about the right side floor besides the transmission tunnel I need to take some measurements and see how it looks.

Get a batter for 96+ taco/4runner and move it to the left. Done many of these and its never an issue.

Red face

That is the problem the batteries I run are lots bigger

I need to see if I can get 1000cca in a smaller case

In the 92 4Runner i had to lower the inner fender about 3" to get the battery terminals to not hit the hood.
