there's the spirit. If you sell this thing, by law you have to come do my 3.4 swap, free of charge. You dont want that weight on your shoulders

On the bright side, if you fix, if she is like my wife, she will never know what parts are REALLY needed to fix it so you have a free pass.

I would swap the body personally but I would imagine finding a rust free body in your region might be hard.

Glad your wife is okay. I would hop on craigslist and start searching for a good body and do a swap. Good luck!

Do a body swap and keep it going. Body swaps are straight forward and fairly easy (especially if you have access to a forklift). You can find 2nd Gens. everywhere and they are normally fairly cheap if the old 3.0 has given up. Glad no one got hurt and sorry for your lost - I know exactly how you feel because I totaled my first 3.4 swap less than 3 months after completing it I did the body swap and now it is back to a daily driver for my son.

I'm struggling to find a fairly rust free one here in Michigan. I'd love to keep it on the road - its been awesome this winter. We were the only car on the road when we had a 3 foot deep mega snow storm.

This has been in my garage since the night it happened.

Anyone want to make offers on either the whole thing or the bits for a ready done 3.4 swap?

Engine is from a '98 4Runner Limited with 160,000 miles on it now. It should probably have a timing belt done while you have it out. It needs an oil change. Plugs and tons of other stuff are new.
Tranny is original '91 with rebuilt front oil pump and a new torque converter.

replacement body

UK, man don't give up on it. There are 2nd Gen. runners everywhere. Take a vacation and come to NC, Va., SC etc, bring a trailer, and I guarantee you can find a suitable replacement for under $800. They are fairly easy to find and most of the time reasonably priced (if the old 3.slow has given up).
I would hate to see all of the work you put into the 3.4 swap (I know just how much work goes into these) go to waste. Or, for that matter, into someone else's hands who has no appreciation for the amount of work you have put into this.
DON"T GIVE UP!!!

Im in the LP, near Ludington.

I'd love to fix it, I really would. I'm struggling to find a cheap relatively rust free body.
Not only that, right now i'm trying to pay off some medical bills and my wife isnt really interested in me spending that money on the 4Runner.
I dont have anything to trade other than labor and my electronics skills, so right now it might just be better to sell it, unless I can get a good body locally really cheap.

To give non local an idea of prices, there is a 2wd '93 with blown head gaskets about 30 miles from here. Body looks in great condition. Its $1900 firm.
