What Trans?

What Trans?
I have been searching for an hour and can't find what trans will bolt to the 3.4? From what I grasp the 3.0 trans. I have a 22re and will the w56 bolt to the 3.4 or do I need a 3.0 bell?

The R150F is stronger than a W56 from what i've read so no gain there as you can still go dual cases with either tranny, but I was wondering if the bell housing would swap out.
Nice to know as I got several of each.

Assuming they both would go onto the 3.4 with whatever bellhousing, a W56 would allow a bolt install of a gear driven case whereas a r150 would need a $350 Marlin (or inferior) adapter.
Am i right with this?????

This is from ORS FAQ:
What manual transmissions can I use?
You can use an R150 (found behind the 3.0L & 3.4L) or an R151 (22R-TE turbo applications) transmission. If the R150 is from a 3.0L it is a direct bolt-in to the 3.4L engine and also to the 3.0L chassis.
If you have an ‘84-‘95 4-cylinder chassis you can use this transmission with its original cross-member and drive-shafts (same wheelbase) to make this portion a “bolt-in”. From there, the ORS motor mounts can be used to mount the engine easily.
If the R150 is from a 3.4L you will need to refer to the transfer-case issues above if your vehicle is a 4WD. Also note that the 3.4L version of the R150 will not work with the ORS Exhaust Crossover Pipe.
The 3.0L and 3.4L version of the R150 have different input shaft lengths and must be used with their original bell-housings.
If you use an R151, you will need to use a bell-housing from a 3.0L.
Now... that bit about the '84-'95 4-cylinder is confusing to me. What is "this" transmission... the R150?
I have an '89 4Runner I'm about to purchase a 3.4L for, and I'm doing research. Does anyone know if any transmission will go right in w/out moving cross member? This write-up from ORS seems to be saying the R150 will...

I believe that means if your vehicle was originally a 4cyl, then you mount the tranny in the original location of the old tranny, and then you would mount your motor mounts for the 3.4 where ever they need to go since the 22-re motor mounts won't work...

See my confusion.
A R151 (turbo 22re) it says will work so why won't any 4 cyl trans? A 22re is a 22re, turbo or not the block is the same. So why won't any 4cyl trans work (W56 included) with a R150 bell housing?
R151 different length then a W56 style???????

Okay I read that again. So a r151 has the same mounting to a 3.0 bell housing but a W56 or g58 (or whatever) does not mount to a 3.0 bell. Soooooo the cheapest way to do this is to get a 3L trans. Does a 3l trans bolt to a 4cyl transfer case? Top or forward shift?
I think I will go with the 3RZ swap now anyways...........

I'm putting a 3.4 in a 22re truck also. Not 100% positive on this but I believe the 3.0 will need new motor mounts for a 22re chassis but if you get a crossmember for the r150 it will bolt in. With the trans bolted in you could use it to line the motor up.
