What fuel mileage are you getting with your 3.4 swap?
I was wondering if we could start a thread on what various people are getting for fuel mileage with the 3.4. Please include. Yeah i know driving style will have an effect too.
make/model of vehicle
transmission type
gears
tires size
lift size
actual engine mileage
Mileage you seem to be getting from the 3.4
I will start.
92 ex cab pu
5 sp stock gearing
4.88 gears, yukon grizzly's
35" bfg km2
4" sas trail gear
230k
I seem to be getting around 15-16mpg mixed, but on the freeway im taching almost 3k at 70mph so im sure thst has something to do with it.

5 speed
Stock 4.10s
33" BFG All Terrain K/Os
No lift, except OME rear springs to remove the sag
I just got 434 kms on 39 liters of fuel, which works out to approximately 9L/100kms, or in American about 26 mpg.

No, I've corrected for that. My odometer is off by 5%, as verified by GPS and Google.
In terms of my milage, that's pretty much bang on. I just got around 20 mpg mixed city and highway with my last tank.

I think I figured out why my mpg is so low. Possible wiring issue with the lock up solenoid. Looks like I may have had it connected to a wrong wire. So the question now is, what exactly is connected to pin 1 connector A on the ECU?!?!?! I cant find the other end anywhere!

I love it. It goes quite well. Only time I need to downshift now is going into the mountain pass with 3 of us and luggage on board, but it will maintain speed on a 6% grade in fifth, accelerate up a 6% grade in 4th.
Filled up today, 473 kms on 55 liters fuel, which means 11.6 liters per 100 kms, which works out to ~20.3 mpg, mixed city and highway.

what kind of speed and rpm are you tacking on the freeway? I just drove a lot of freeway on this tank, Its not empty yet, but my mileage is def. better. I was going 60 mph, @ 2500rpm. If i was in the 2100 rpm range, im thinking i would be a lot better for high way mileage

wow, with an auto, 4.88's and 30 inch tires im at 2200rpm at 50mph, and I used to get 17mpg average with my 3.0, I guess i should go 3.4 and a manny tranny soon, given my mpg has dropped to about 14 over the last 3 months or so..

Well, Yotaman, I've found that the engine doesn't need to work as hard, so that's probably where some of the fuel economy comes in.
It's also got a better fuel injection and intake, too, so that helps.
I picked up a bit more economy when I pulled the mechanical fan and put in an electric, as well.
Mind you, the $3000 or so I have into the swap would buy a lot of gas.
But the 3.0 isn't nearly as much fun as my 3.4!

can you elaborate on your " better fuel injection" setup that you have? thanks.
