two questions regarding 2001 motor

I've been looking for older 3.4s for the swap but a 2001 has come up. It's an automatic and my chassis is a 5 speed.

I thought I read here somewhere that the ECUs were standardized at some point. Can I leave the auto harness connected to the motor and replace only the ECU to a manual version and expect it to "plug and play" after repinning perhaps?

Does the 2001 have the old or new style of exhaust crossover?

Thanks,

Let me try and be more specific. I've found a 2001 auto 3.4 motor as a candiadate for swap. I'll have to travel a couple hours and pull the engine myself. To make things easier, I was wondering if I can pull the engine with the harness still attached and reuse it in my 93 5 speed chassis by purchasing a manual ECU. I think I read that 667tech did that with a 2002. Anyone if plugs are same between manual and auto ECUs in 2001?

Secondly, when did crossover pipe change between styles?

Thanks,

I THINK that the plugs were standardized in physical shape in 98 but i am not sure that means that you can unplug an auto ecm and plug in a manual ecm and have everything work. I highly, highly, doubt it but not sure. you would have to get a wiring diagram for a 2001 and compare the manual and auto and look for differences.

not sure about the crossover

I don't mind repinning the connectors if I need to. Just having the same physical connector makes the job easier in this case.

I also think I read on the old ORS site that the exhaust changed right around the time of this engine. I'm not sure if one can "flip" the exhaust per the "sticky" in this section with the new style. I'm not sure if I use the flanges and re-weld form scratch, etc.

Thanks
