is there a difference 97 vs 99 ecu

bought a 99 taco 5vzfe m/t for my swap. also got my hands on a 97 4runner wire harness a/t. i'm trying to figure out if i should get the 97 or the 99 ecu.
is there a difference in the engines?
i know i can make a a/t harness and ecu work. but are the years compatable?
suggestions?

Yes, there are major differences.

Match the ECU to the harness.

would it be more beneficial to find a 99 harness and ecu to go with my 99 motor?
