Okay i've been spending about 10 mins on this connector right now so i can finish my swap. I need to remove all the unused wires from the 3.4 D connector. This connector runs from the ECU into the Dash harness. I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to depin. Someone must know how to do this... Oh i've searched.

 

First question- Have you unlocked the connector?
IF so what tool are you using to remove the pins? Small screw driver or the specialty tool?

 

I used a small jeweler screwdriver from a set I have. A paper clip would work fine as well.

You first have to unlock the plug. On the outside there is a pushed-in tab. Pry that loose with a the same small screwdriver, or if you dont one a razor blade could be used to pry open the lock. It doesnt come all the way out, just a tiny bit but that unlocks the pins so the screwdriver can go in and release the lever holding it in.

 

From what I can see on the plug it’s self there is no unlock clip. I’ve done re-pining several times when I use to be in the whole Honda scene. I will take a snapshot of the plug when I get home today.

The connector i have doesn't look to have a unlocking peace...
Needle and Paper Clip.

 

here's a pic of the locking tab on one of my housings.



i have seen them be the same color as the housing itself, so it may not be as obvious on your's as it is in this picture, but every one of the larger toyota housings that i've seen has had one similar to this. you just pry that white part up evenly,



and then you should be able to release the individual tabs for each connector with the same SMALL screwdriver.

thanks for the great info guys. we should stick this... also when you lift up the locking connector, don't pull it out. just lift it up... I used a thick safety pin for removing the pins.
