Oil pan swap questions

92 pickup, 3.4 swap, ifs, stock 3.0 pan and stick ran through the hole that was in the center under the manifold.

The IFS is laying on the ground as the SAS is going in and I am about the change the pan but I am a little confused. I have the 3.4 T100 2wd stuff but not the dipstick of tube. Just the pan, strainer/pickup.

how accurate will my stock 3.0 stick be in this new pan?

When I look at the Trail Gear instructions, they say to add 6.5 qts to their T100 pan which is a Toyota one as well. WTF did they 6.5 qts?? Does the T100 pan hold more oil?

So I guess my question is....who has swapped to the T100 2x4 pan and were you able to keep your stock 3.0 stick in there and have it be accurate??

i would fill up your new oil pan with water and the old one and measure what the differences are. Good starting point right? That way if the original 3.0 pan holds less you could justify the difference in capacities and fill it with 6.5 quarts....

Don't take this as absolute fact but when I was swapping the oil pans I noticed that the oil dipsticks appeared to be different lengths, but when I put them next to each other I realized that the actual dipstick tubes were different lengths as well. The actual length of the dipstick that extended beyond the tube was actually the same length for me.

ya i probably get that from you anthony. I should have asked from the get. Ill get with with you Sunday night and send you some money and a label.

Doing a SAS with Trail Gear front and rear housings, 6 shooter knuckles, Dirty 30's, Elockers, the whole kabang. About half way done as of now.

Ill post up a few pics when I am done.

Seen all kinds of 3.4s around here and never seen one needing more than about 5.5 quarts regardless of what pan was on it. The dipsticks and tubes are varying lengths but essentially measure out the same.

Is it really necessary to change the oil pan? I am using a 4Runner IFS 3.0 pan on my 3.4 swap with a SFA. I only have a 3" lift and haven't had any problems at all.
