Inspection in NJ as of 8-2010
I just thought I would put this out there for any other NJ members that didn't know. As of Aug 1st the DMV has dropped all but the emissions testing on inspection for passenger cars/trucks. Which rocks!!! This means no checking or caring about tinted windows, converted headlights, superchargers sticking out of the hood, etc. etc. In addition, there is no inspection whatsoever for motorcycles. (not that I ever got that done anyway)
I just went through with my swapped '88 4Runner and all they did was run the emissions test via the tailpipe wand (because they assumed it was non-OBDII) and run the gas cap pressure test. I could have had a helicopter minigun mounted off a turret on the side Tango & Cash style and would have passed.
Now keep in mind, just because the inspection guys don't care doesn't make it legal. You can still get pulled over for any of the previous things you would have failed for and get summons'. (Although with the minigun lets see them try
