Zook does have the best list. ORS is very complete as well but is a little harder to decide the "absolutely needed" parts and the just "nice to have" parts.

You'll have to look through my thread... but I do list the wires I had to find, splice or add and there wasn't very many. Each swap is going to be a little different, but you don't have to do extensive wiring work to get things right. What you do have to do though is get FSM electrical wiring diagrams for both your current vehicle and 3.4 donor vehicle and spend some time figuring them out.

so, I'm gonna do the 3.4! It's decided. I'm looking for a motor now. I'm gonna have yotaman build me a wiring harness so I can skip that part of the process. I'll be aiming to get this done under 2,000 and I'll be buying the rest of the parts hopefully thursday. I want to make as few trips as possible to the parts store since i'm gonna be about a 20 min drive to the nearest parts store.

Best of luck finding the 3.4... sometimes that can be the hardest part.

Be sure you start a new thread once you get things underway. I think you'll find that the support you get through YT will be very helpful once the wrenches start flying.

Found the 3.4: Out of auto 99 4runner, 80,000 miles, Complete, power steering pump, AC compressor, altenator, Complete uncut MANUAL wiring harness and ECU. Forgot to tell them I needed the EVAP VSV stuff as well. Only paid $1100.00. Picking it up tomorrow. Will start a thread to document my progress maybe tomorrow depending on the time that I have. Does anyone think I'll have any problem getting it to fit in the back of my 4runner? it does have a 1st gen roll bar. I need to figure this out.

oh yeah, and they are going to run a compression test today and let me know. I placed a deposit on it for them to hold it for me.
