found donor but is it worth the $

I found a 95.5 4x4 tacoma with 190,000 miles. Everything is there but the ecu and not that it matters the rear springs are gone. Its been hit hard right in the drivers door. Bent the frame all to crap too. My question: is this truck worth $1k? How hard would it be to find an ecu to match the motor and how cheap are they? Its a 5 speed by the way. Does the motor have too many miles to worry about a swap? Can't afford to go through the motor all except for timing, w.pump and so forth. Is a conversion harness still available through anyone? Going into a 94 3.0. I've not got enough knowledge with vehicle wiring to do my own. If anybody could help Thanks.

I just put in a 3.4 that has 230k on it, runs like a champ. i did replace valve cover gaskets, front, and rear crank seals, timing belt, water pump, idler bearing, and tensioner bearing, and spark plugs.

that truck is worth 1k, you can part it out and get most, if not all your money back, thats what i did. If you have the truck, you will have all the pieces to make a conversion harness, but i dont know if one is still offered anymore. The wiring is not all that difficult. But a good understanding of electrical theory does help. you can find ecu's on car-part.

in other words i would buy it, although i only paid 500 for my 4 runner.

Oh crap, you're right! I had never actually been to their main page which clearly states they went out of business in '08. I've only gotten to their website by clicking on a google search that took me to some other page other than their main page. This sucks, because I wanted to buy their 3.4 swap kit. Just goes to show you how behind the times I am. Guess I'm in the same oat as you now...
