Does anyone have wiring diagrams for a 1989 Pickup?
Apparently the wiring harnesses are different for an '89 and a '92. The pinouts are all jumbled up between the years, and there is one connector that is different. More specifically, it's the IH1 connector (dark gray, in passenger's side kick panel) is different, but even the wires are mixed up too. Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for the '89 Pickup, 5-speed? I need to fix mine.
I have a 2000 3.4 swap that's going into a '92, but have harnesses from an '89. Don't ask.
Thanks.

Good luck finding an FSM specificially for the '89 pickup. I never found anything online, and you are correct, the wiring is all over the map between the early year trucks. TIS doesn't have anything for our truck.
For the little bit of electrical work I had to do I used the wiring diagrams for the '93 truck & '91 4Runner, and still had to trace wires to identify what wires where actually what.

Check this thread.

I found that IH1 you speak of looking through the links I quoted in post #5 there.
If I'm correct, it's for the driver's side power window switch. I'm not 100% on that though.

Okay, I still can't find this stupid thing, and it's getting annoying. Here is the connector I'm looking for. I need the pinouts or the location of the wiring diagram for an 89 pickup.

Okay, this is what I got so far. Can someone verify?
Pin, Color, Function
1, G-W, Stop Light Switch or ADD switch
2, W-L, Can't find
3, L-R, can't find, but N/C on my harness
4, V, ECT Solenoid and Speed Sensor
5, W-R, A/C Idle Up VSV
6, G-Y, airflow meter or 4WD dash light
7, W-L, can't find, but N/C on my harness
8, L, Fuel and EFI Main
9, B-R, Igntion 2 to Fuel Injectors
10, N/C
11, N/C
12, B-G, +12V to EFI Main
13, L-G, Transmission Oil Temp Sensor (A/T only)
14, L-B, can't find
15, N/C
16, B-W, can't find
Can someone with an 89 wiring diagram verify this for me?
I haven't had time to go through the IH2 yet.

Looks familiar...Kinda
So that looks like one of the two body-to-engine harness connections from my '88.
Just to clarify. You are swapping in place of a 3VZE 3.0 that is using an engine harness from a '89 pickup that is in a '92 pickup currently?
From everything that I had read when I was doing my wiring there was a switch over in mid-89 with wiring (pickups only) connector styles.
It took me forever to track down an EWD that actually matched color and pin-out for what I had.
What did you use for reference for pin number? I have attached a diagram of the connector as well as a pict of mine for comparison. I can plainly see that the pin-out is definelty different between mine and yours, but I would use the attached diagram as a pin location reference.
Re-post what the pin location and the wire color/striping is using the diagram, and I'll see if it looks like what I have for an '88 will work out for you.

Kinda, sorta. I have an ORS harness that was made for an '89, but my pickup is a '92. The ORS harness was sold to me with the 3.4 engine I bought. Everything physically plugs in, except for that connector. Then I checked and found out that the IH1 and IH2 connectors have different pinouts; that is, the used pins are in different places.
That looks like it. The pin-outs I have (on the '89 truck) are posted one post above your reply. I am holding the connector upside down in my picture, but the pin-outs I used are the same as your diagram. If you could verify the functions with the pins, that would be great.
Otherwise, I already ordered an EWD last Friday. It should be here this Fri or Sat.

Okay, this is what I have for future reference.
On the 1989, the dark grey connector pictured above (post #7), is called the C1. In the picture, it is actually upside-down, but the pin-outs are like the diagram (post #9).
The pinouts from the 1989 EWD are as follows:
PIN + COLOR + FUNCTION
1 - G-W - Stop Light Switch
2 - W-B - 4WD Switch
3 - NC
4 - V - Chk Eng Light
5 - W-R - AC Idle Up
6 - G-Y - MAF
7 - NC
8 - NC
9 - B-R - Ign2 to Ign Coil
10 - NC
11 - NC
12 - B-G - EFI Main
13 - G-L - Speed Sensor
14 - NC
15 - NC
16 - B-W - Starter Relay
These pinouts are for a 1989 4x4 Truck 5-speed manual transmission with NO cruise and manual hubs (no ADD).

What do you mean? The connector that connects to the grey connector? The pinouts should be the same. Pin 1 on one connector maps to the pin 1 of the other. They don't change pin numbers nor function.
