Can this part be removed from the Tacoma's tcase?

I'm converting a 21-spline input gear drive tcase to a 23-spline. Once that is done, I'll need a sleeve to mate the tcase splines to the transmission's output splines. I can't recall where I read or who I talked to, but I was under the impression that I could use the sleeve from my donor Tacoma's tcase. Unfortunately, the sleeve (red arrow) is either pressed onto the shaft super tight or it is part of the shaft and doesn't separate. The FSM says nothing about this part so I have no idea if it's two pieces or one. Can anyone clarify if this sleeve is removable.

Yep. You need some sort of puller though. When I installed a crawl box into a friends Tacoma last year, we welded a washer to the end of the coupler, then a nut to the top of the washer, then put the bolt through the nut/ washer and tightened the bolt. Essentially pressing the coupler off of the input shaft.

I'm sure any of your local auto parts stores have the correct pullers.

I have a bearing separator -- http://www.p-wholesale.com/upimg/9/4...pt0061-491.jpg -- which should do the job. Only problem is that it didn't separate when I was tightening so I wasn't sure if it was a one-piece shaft and didn't want to ruin it. I'll give it another go and really tighten the SOB this time.
