Actually I believe the min is 1.5 inches to clear the intake manifold. Starting at 2 inches you start to have to worry about transmission brackets and maybe even a steering extention.

Almost every swap thread addresses the body lift issue. Some don't body lift, some do. Read and decide for yourself if it's the route you wanna take.

I put a 1.5 in lift on mine. I'm told that some have gotten away with a 1in but I didn't want to take the chance. It's perfect for me and it makes it easier to work on.

you dont have to use a body lift if you cut the hood . We built a hood scoop toyotafiberglass.com , expecially for this reason , you can see an install here .. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f209...runner-239487/ way easy to install

The hood more that clears on my 90 4x4 pickup with the 3.4 swap with a 1" body lift

I know allot of people here have done the swap and have had to cut their hood or install a lift but after I was done I put a 1" block of foam at the highest point of the engine and it didn't seem to hit the hood when closed. I'm thinking in my case I might not have needed to lift at all

I used the 3.0 mounts on the 3.4 block. Don't know if it made a difference or not.

Different people seem to need different clearances on this swap. I say don't go less than 1" just to be safe

2" body lift adds a nice clearance. but it can be done with 1" or even 1.5". Roger Brown makes all of these custom body lifts for these rigs.
