Advice needed on swapping 96 2.4 with a 3.4

Hi, first time joining any sort of forum and this community seems like one to be a part of. The 2.4 in my 96 m/t taco is old and tired and needs replaced. I'm debating on whether I should just replace the 2.4, or find a 3.4 donor vehicle for a V6 upgrade. I have a 6 in lift on 285/70/17's and let me tell you this taco is slow! Does anyone have any advice on which years to look for or whether the 2.4 trans will mate to a 3.4 engine, whether the motor mounts will accomodate the 3.4, and what else I'll need to swap. I have already done a 22r to 22re swap in the past on a 88 Runner but this is something that I have no info on. Thanks to anyone who could help and have a grateful day!

I would swap to the 3rz 2.7 and turbo charge it. It would be fairly easy to get more power and still maintain some gas mileage.

Wait, is this a 4wd or 2wd? The 2rz-fe (2.4L for Tacos, and T100s) is exclusively in 2wd rigs.... So you have 6" lift on a 2wd rig? Its slow because of the large tires and high gearing The 2rzfe and 3rzfe are the same except the stroke on the 2rzfe is slightly less, giving it a 2.4L displacement rather than the 2.7 for the 3rzfe. Just swap the 2rz for the 3rz And ya, super charge it...
or get lower gears

Yes it is 4wd so it must be the 2.7. I failed inspection today for misfire on #2 and #3. So I'm gonna have to find a donor asap. Thanks for the replies. I'll do more research before I post.
