90 4runner with 99 3.4 and gen 1 SC?
I am going to finish out my 4runner and am selling of my juggy project. I am reading all I can about 3.4 swaps and still dont know much it seams. It came with the swap in it. Its a very clean swap, I was told its a ors kit. Its CA BAR legal and all. It runs great but I want to bump up the Hp by install my gen 1 SC kit it came with. I downloaded the TRD instructions and the kits complete and apears to be in good shape.
Can I install a gen 1 on a 99 engine? I was hoping to buy the split second timing box for it and run it. I dont want to ruin my engine but am trying to avoid buying the 1200 dollar injector upgrade. Its got the stock 3.0 fuel pump in the stock tank. It weights in at 5060 pounds. has a r150 with duals and 5.13's in a set of one tons. I am looking at slapping my 44's on it for the snow and need some more power to have more fun... am I on the right track or heading for big trouble?

That is one good looking runner!! Take this with a grain of salt.. But if you have the injectors that came with the 99, then you should be good. Those are the larger ones over the 96-97or8 motors. I don't see why you couldn't install the gen1 SC. One thing I would definitely do is get an air/fuel ratio gauge. Just watch your ratio at higher rpms. If it leans out to much, then you know you need more fuel.
The bottom end on these motors are built strong. I would almost say for racing. 5.13's are a little high for 44's IMO, but if you have duals then I don't see how that could matter as much on the trails. Not sure how low you can go for gears in 1-tons though. Only time I have seen a yota with 3/4 ton running gear had a 327 in it. So the stock, what 4.10's? were just fine. That truck ran 39.5's.

As far as I know its all 99.. My Bar sticker has a the year and a serial number off the engine I think.. I can get the serial number if that would help. Do I need the split second timing controller / retarder? Or can I get away with 92 octane?
As far as gears go I built a currie Iron jock HP rear... I could have gone with a 5.38 but in a reverse cut was worried about busting pinion teeth off. I have built alot of drivetrains but lack in new engine systems and tech stuff.
I know the gen1 blowers make more noise than a gen 2's but are there any other drawbacks?
