For Sale!!! $8000. I want a bigger truck

 

Glad I didn't sell it. I'm sure I would have regretted it! But now its time for tires and I want to do some front suspension work. I want a softer ride on rough dirt roads. I was thinking about ball joint spacers and dropping the torsions to equal the current ride height. Or maybe aftermarket torsions. Anyone have any tricks or tips for a softer ride?

 

Remove swaybar with stock torsions at stock settings. It's pretty damn cushy depending on the shock you run. I have cheap Monroes, swaybar delete, and stock front suspension and it glides over rocks. The aftermarket torsion bars are only thicker thus a harsher ride. BJ spacer/relaxed tbars is a popular way to go for increased travel, good cv angles, and pleasant ride. I think a lot depends on your shock choice however. Rancho 9000 are a bad choice for cush. Been there.

 

How is the on-street cornering without the sway bar? Maybe I'll look into a sway bar disconnect. My shocks are due for replacement. I don't even know what brand they are. They're yellow and they're leaking. I'll look into the monroes. Thanks for the ideas

 

I'm not necessarily suggesting you get Monroes. I needed a shock and this is what they had locally. Cheapest of the bunch but suits me ok for around town and logging trails. You'll notice some difference with the swaybar disconnected. You might just take the nut off the upper endlink, thus disconnecting your swaybar, and driving around like it to decide if you like it. Also check your tire pressure. Big difference in ride quality from 38 to 30 pounds of air. I run about 28 around town in my 34x10.5s E rated tires and they ride nicely.

 

I run 28 psi as well. Doing some research on different shocks. Thanks for the ideas. I'll see how it rides with the sway bar dis-connected.
