Started my swap last week and thought I might show a few pics. Engine is from a 2000 4runner auto, and the ecu is from a 98 taco m/t. That was fun to re-wire! This engine has only 45k miles, but the sad part is it sat outside for 5 years with no intake manifold. I had to send the heads out, hone the cylinders and clean the rust off the rings. Luckily, the crank was pefect

 

Looks good so far, what do you have planned for the hood? Hood scoop?

 

I already installed a 1.5" body lift from 4crawler. Very nice kit. I wasn't sure about a body lift, but I can barely tell a difference with the small lift and the hood closes nicely.

I got everything in and running and drove it a few miles. No check engine lights yet. I still have some work to do, need to install the charcoal canister, relocate the battery and when its good to go the supercharger will go in

 

Got it just about finished up this morning. Mounted my battery and air box, got the a/c working, tidied up the harness and went for a drive. Wow! Anyone thinking about doing this swap, I highly recommend it! I'll finish up some odds and ends this weekend and hopefully get some miles on it

 

Forgot to throw out a thanks to Cliff at toyonlyswaps.com. I used their conversion cross-over pipe. Pefect angles and pefect fit. Very nice piece. Highly recommended!!

So I got the charger on last week and the clutch was not happy about it. I was running the 3.0 flywheel and clutch against my own better judgement because I didn't have a 3.4 flywheel. So I picked up a 3.4 flywheel and a clutch from marlin crawler. Very nice clutch kit! Also did a manual hub swap while I had it in the shop. One of these days I'll make the fan shroud fit...If anyone is swapping from a 3.0 to a 3.4 flywheel, I would recommend buying the 3.4 bolts as well. I found out today that the 3.4 bolts are shorter because the flywheel is about 9 mm thinner in the center....Of course, our parts dept. didn't have the correct bolts in stock, so I had to cut the 3.0 bolts down. pain in the @ss!

 

I'm running the 3.0 flywheel and clutch with the 3.4 s/c swap. no issues... what seemed to be the issue?

 

Nice job! what did it cost you to get the heads done? How does toyonlyswaps.com crossover pipe work along with the supercharger? What made you use the ecu out of a 98 taco m/t instead of the 2000 a/t? I got a similar swap going on with the same setup, thanks!

 

Any more than half throttle and it would slip. It felt like it was holding in 1st and 2nd gear but now that I have a good clutch, I can tell it was slipping there too. Big difference! The clutch looked fine other than a couple hot spots when I pulled it out. It was a factory toyota clutch.

The head work cost about $550. The crossover works as well as the factory one would, it's just a modified factory pipe. If you use an auto ecu with a manual trans, it will set multiple trouble codes. The ecu expects to see the transmission

Assuming you did your own wiring, where did you get your EWD, techinfo only goes back to 1990.im just now starting my 3.4 in to 1989 Toyota extra cab. Wiring is the only part im a little unsure of.

The wiring isn't too bad. There's only like 17 or so leads to splice together if you're engine harness matches the ecu. Buy a factory manual.

Toyota still offers the wiring book. I ordered mine direct from Toyota, and it was under $30
