The battery is in and the key has been turned:

It's alive! Starts right up and seems to idle just fine. Sounds great! I stopped it to check fluid levels and I smell gas. I'm thinking it must be running pretty rich, until I see a huge wet spot under the engine. Fuel leak, bad one too. I look up from under the truck and find the high pressure fuel line is dripping wet. After more brief testing it's coming from here:

It sprays out right where the 5VZ fuel line connects to the ORS adapter hose. After talking with Mike he thinks the fitting adapter must be in backwards. So tommorrow off it comes to check it out.

Awesome! You'll have them little mishaps...but that is just minor stuff!

Congrats I know the feeling, mine fired to life about three weeks ago after being down for 2.5months. The 5vze has proven to be a great motor so far. The power difference even thought mine is n/a has been great compared to the 3.0, I can actually hold steady 75 on the freeway without trying and it drives around town like a normal truck.

Congrats, Mt. Goat!

You've done some outstanding work on your truck!

I'm really looking forward to hearing mine start the first time, too! I hope its not too far in the future!

Yeah that was my main concern too, fuel was spraying out right next to the exhaust manifold Not sure how long you could get away with that before flames are everywhere. Did you have the adapter in backwards?

You will have to start a thread about your experience with the 3.0 auto tranny/ 5VZ combo now. That's great!

Well the fitting was in correctly.
This side:

Was into the 5VZ fuel line:

But I noticed a possible problem with the adapter, it is steel, and so is the 5VZ fuel line. Is this cool to have a steel into steel compression fitting? I thought with compression fittings one metal was suppost to be softer than the other and conform to the other suface for a tight seal.

When I was talking to Mike yesterday he mentioned the adapter he sent me was blue. I told him that it was gold colored, and he seemed puzzled. Maybe this was a mistake and it is suppost to be a blue aluminum fitting?

I actually didnt use an adapter i just loosened the bolt on the fuel rail rotated the fuel line over so it was going over the end of the valve cover and then bolted it right up to the stock fitting.

as far as the thread goes ill work on that this week but things are a bit on the disorganized side here right now cause of the move, and the baby is due on thanksgiving day. We are actually still looking for a place still, and are staying in my wifes parents basement for the moment. So i will post as soon as i can ill post a pic of the engine bay tomorrow PROMISE.

Dale,
When I did my fuel line I bought a 4' stick of new line from the auto store.
I then cut the existing fuel line down on the frame and used a flare fitting to connect the existing to the new line and A couple of bends later and I had a solid fuel line up in the engine compartment.
There is a brass fitting on the piece that gets cut out just flare it on the new line and hook it up to the 3.4 hose. It's only three connections and works great.

Oh yeah that engine really looks nice in its new home .

Thanks guys! So Thomas what size (diameter) line did you get? Was it the same as the factory line? Did you do any special flare on it or just a standard flare?

okay here's the deal

i was having trouble with the direct link so i put the second thumb nail link in.

1. Stock 3.0 Fuel Line Connector.

2. Stock 3.0 Fuel Line and Connector from Engine Cut and Brazed to T Connector.

3. Plug in T for will this part of T will Later be used for a Fuel Pressure Gauge.

4. Stock 3.0 Fuel Line Union. is the same thread as the 3.4 Fuel Line. 3.4 Fuel line can be connected to #1 if it is flipped over so the upper steel portion is going over the passenger valve cover.

5. T connector for Fuel pressure gauge to be added later.

6. New Connector on the end of fuel line to accomidate T.

When Flipped the fuel line will be Slightly long. but can be used as is with No modifications. I modified my line as i said to accomidate a fuel pressure gauge later.

here is a picture of the flip.

Dale,
The fit was really close if not perfect but its been about a year since I had to match this up so I took some pics for you. I used a regular flare (single) tool and haven't had any problems so far. Really this connection should not be a problem for you once it's all said and done especially since you used the ORS crossover.
That crossover should eliminate any close to header collector contact I had on my swap.

I do however want to give you props for a very inspirational write up and appreciate all the pics. To all the second gen owners this is a very viable swap that is very rewarding on so many levels.

Bottom line on firewall is the return line from fuel rail

3.4 Cruise Control Actuator. I used 3.4 Cruise ECU as well.

3.4 Evap Box

Routed 0/1 Gage Cable from batter to this Distribution block i got from a stereo shop. Then routed 2 Gage to the Starter.

Wow, lots of help! Thanks Thomas and Fallman, it's good to know there are other ways to do it. At this point ORS will be open in the morning and I'll give Mike a chance to make it right since I already paid for his conversion kit. I hope I don't have to take off the supercharger and flip the fuel line around. I'm hoping I just got the wrong adapters or something. I'll see what Mike says tommorrow.
