3.4 Swap Help!!

Im looking to sway a 3.4 into my 89 and i can get a 3.4 with the whole harness and computer with a 90 day warranty on it for 750 but its backed behind an automatic. i heard somewhere that you cant use the ones backed behind an auto because the manual pilot bushing wont work, is this true?

There has been some off and on debate as to whether all 3.4 crankshafts have been machined to accept the pilot bearing. It's my understating that it has been determined that all 3.4's actually have this hole in the crank, so you should be good to go.

However, using a 3.4 Auto ECM with a 5SPD can be problematic. Would require a better understanding of the wiring than what I have. You could always find a 3.4 Manual ECM... but that's going to add to your costs.

All 3.4's have the hole. 95-97 wiring harness's have differnt plugs for auto and manual ECU's. You can use an auto ECU to get the motor to run.

Pilot bearing in the SEARCH yielded 360 threads. I could have answered your question with about 8 of the first few threads that it popped up with.

If you don't mind seeing about 8 check engine lights the auto wiring harness and ECU will work just fine...that being said I am still having some issues with getting mine to run. I had yotaman build me a plug and play harness. Worked really well since I hate wiring things myself and spending hours looking at wiring diagrams.
