3.4 swap harness question

I have a 96 5vz, a 97 mt ecm, and a 01 auto harness.
Anyone know if I will be able to repin the harness I have? Or will I need an older one?
Thanks

You can probably repin it. Seriously though, you will have to get EDWs and compare connectors, colors of wires, and locations. There's absolutely no other way to go about it. You might also have to get another connector or two and repin those if you 01 harness doesn't plug into the 97 ECM.

If you're good with EWDs and don't mind wading through the occasional mislabeled or colored wire Haynes would be sufficient.

The general consensus here is Toyota manual from TIS is the way to go.

Ok cool, yeah I have never done anything with ewd's, will I need the 01 & the 97, or just the 01? I already know I will need the 89

You need the wiring diagrams from any component you use that has or uses wires.
If all different years then you best compare diagrams.

This is why you get a donor vehicle instead of Frankensteining, much less of a pita.

That's what I thought, just trying to confirm before I had more manuals then I needed. I would have loved a donor, but it just wasn't an option for me. I'm not in a hurry to finish my swap though, and a little extra work never killed anyone haha.

Truly spoken like someone who has never done this. You'll learn the hard way.

Your right I've never done this swap before, and I don't have space in my garage for a donor. This will probably by too hard and I should just give up now
Great attitude

You really should.
A 96 motor to a 97 ecu with an 01 harness will be a wiring nightmare for someone already clueless.

Haha, I disagree, I don't believe in "I can't" or "give up". Geuss we were just brought up different. I had a few questions, so i asked them. No one was born all knowing. If you don't have anything productive to contribute, don't bother me. I don't appreciate you negative attitude.

If you can't handle the facts of the answer, don't ask the question on a public forum.

It's not negativity, it's simply experiential wisdom telling you that you've chosen poorly.
