3.4 powersteering line? ??

The line coming from my 3.4 power steering fluid canister has two vacuum lines coming from it. Can someone tell me what those connect to and are they necessary or can I just run my 3.0 line that doesn't have the vac lines? Thanks.

P.s. still working on my wiring.

Those vacuum lines should be the idle up lines (increases your RPM's when turning so you engine doesn't die). If I understand the other threads correctly....thats what they are for. I am also currently doing a swap and plan to splice the two lines together (well not splice, but you get my point, join the two together....)......let me know if you want more info on this.

You can also use the 3.0 line that does not have the idle-up feature. (It was in the 3.0 pump and not the line itself). This does away with both of those lines. I was worried about trying to save this feature with my swap as well, and it turned out to be no problem. I have left the truck idleing for 10 minutes while steering back and forth lock to lock trying to get the motor to stall from it and nothing. The ECM appears to compensate automatically without it.

psc setup

Can I use the psc field serviceable kit and just T into with the vacuum sensor or will that affect the reading to much?

I would assume it would work, but isn't it getting a bit expensive for a power steering line? Those PSC setups are a few hundred bucks.

$44.50 for the kit and it is rebuildable. That doesn't seem too bad. I figure even buying the t- section im into it for $80. I just want to make sure it will work correctly before I go that route.

Oh, I never saw that there. It looks to have the proper end for the steering box, but I don't see the banjo end?

Truthfully though, you could very easily use the 3.0 high pressure line and not worry about the idle-up feature. I think it was put on there on the 5VZ as a legacy from the 3VZ setup even though the ECM handles the idle drop by itself.

I always intended to go back and solve the issue with combining the 3.0 steering box end with the 3.4 pump end like Cadman and a few others have done, but it so isn't a problem I have since decided to just let it go.
