Question 3.4 mix and match questions

I picked up a rust free 2nd gen 2 door 4runner and i am gathering parts to do another 3.4 swap. I have a somewhat complete motor with 90000 miles. I am missing most of the important parts, harness, ECU, ignitor and the MAF.

So my question is when trying to find all these parts, what is interchangeable?

Do i need to find them all from the same vehicle? or can i just piece it all together?

I feel comfortable with EWDs and re pinning.

Does anyone know where i can find information on this? or a good thread with some details on this? ORS site says you cant really mix and match but i find that hard to believe.

Thanks in advance.

I would imagine getting the wiring harness, ECU and MAF from the same engine would be your best bet. I know there were some mid-year changes made with some of the ECUs, so in order to eliminate most of the headaches, try to get all that stuff off the same engine.

You can repin the early harness that used the huge in line maf to use the drop in style maf. The drop in is significantly cheaper. and more widely available. Not sure about the ignitor. Most of the other electronics you want to get specific match to the ecu. I know that the tps will vary by ecu so it will need to match the ecu and the harness as there were some 3 wire and 4 wire tps. Also they changed the 02 sensors in 2000 98? I think from the narrow band to the wideband so they will need to match your ecu. The newer throttle bodies were throttle by wire so it was electronical and a headache to set up right IIRC...
