I have started my my 3.4 conversion and am about ready to drop the engine in. The recipient is a 94 4runner and the donor is an 01 automatic. The only thing I am still confused about is the throttle body. I know that 01 had dbw, but what is the proccess for putting on one without and what years should I be looking to find a throttle body from? Do I need a different ecu?

 

The only thing I can offer is that I started swapping in a 1999 4Runner engine and I had a complete wrecked truck for the donor. I fell into a great deal on a super low mileage 2002 engine and I installed that one instead of the 99. I just swapped the top half of the intake plenum. IDK if I could have swapped just the throttle body, it was a long time ago.

 

01 4Runner? 01 Tacoma? Or 01 Tundra?

If you want to get rid of the dbw , you will need to source a different engine harness, ECU, and throttle body.
