3.4 casting numbers

well I got my 3.4 today to begin my swap but i cant figure out what year the vehicle came out of i have the pcm with numbers on it but unsure on how to figure what year it came out of any ideas let me know. the pcm numbers are 89661-04670

Quick Google search shows that it is probably a 2000 Tacoma TRD 4x4 Manual

any ideas on where the casting #s are on the block

i think I remember reading somewhere that they are behind the timing belt cover but I could be mistaken on that.

I would hate for you to pull it apart and they are not there.

Maybe someone that has theirs apart can verify??

Really though, the ECM year and model should be enough if that is the correct ECM for that motor.

you should have a vin plated on the front passenger side of the motor below the power steering pump

well the only numbers on this motor ive been able to find are 246260-345 and 5v23. but cant find a web site that decodes engine block #'s any ideas

so what does that all mean how do you decipher what it all is.

Prime example of why in the long run (and usually in the short run) buying the complete donor vehicle will save you time, money and headaches.
