My backup light wire was in the kick panel. Red/white if I remember right.

I didnt swap sender for the temp gauge. I just connected the water temp wire to the water temp wire in the 3.0 harness.

For oil you should have change the oil switch to the sender that was on the 3.0. Then you are just using the wire. The ECM doesnt monitor oil pressure from what I could gather so there are no provision for that in the 3.4 harness. That wire from your 3.4 harness that comes from where our sender is now just ties together with the wire that is in the kick panel that goes up to the gauge.

If you think that if you have the wires right and you have neither the oil or water gauges working......did you pop a fuse? There is a gauge fuse in the drivers kick panel fusebox.

Yeah, I never got the oil pressure gauge to work, even bypassing the harness and going straight to the wiring harness under the dash. I put in an Autometer gauge instead. It was just easier than

As the wiring goes, these two gauge wires are pretty simple. They go from the sender right into the combination meter. I ohmed it out all the way from sender to gauge. No workey. I did but this truck not running so it's possible that both senders are bad but I really doubt it. I can't find any other wire that needs to go say from the ECU to the comination meter. If this frustrates me, I'll go aftermarket gauges too. It just seems to simple to not get working!

I'll look for the back up lights in the kick panel.

Thanks again,

Update on last week. I commuted with the truck all week and out on 100 miles doing so. Then Friday went up to Glenwood Springs on I-70 trought Debeque Canyon. Amazed at truck. Smooth, powerful, and quiet (I kept stock donor exhaust). Up the canyon in 5th gear, all one has to do to pass is pull out and give it the gas. No hesitation at all. Running on the flats at 7000 ft at 80 MPH, I'm only at 1/2 pedal position. 300 miles on tank and I'll let you know MPG soon. I was having fun though!

I never got my oil gauge to work either. I bought a "new" sender from from a guy parting out a truck and that didnt fix it either. If I ground the wore the gauge jumps up but on the sender nothing.

I could never get the 3.0 throttle cable to work either. I made it idle way too fast no matter how much i adjusted it. I finally changed the whole thing out to the 3.4 and everything worked good.

Dont want to hijack Cruisers thread but let me see a shot of that Rob if you have one already ready to post. I am thinking that I am going to do the same. I saw some little tiny 1 1/4 gauges at the auto parts store (auto meters i think) and I was thinking about trying the cut a round hole over the rectangle cutout and pop it in the stock spot.

Oh, it's not pretty yet. I have two gauges, coolant temp and oil pressure, mounted into two pieces of ABS drain pipe, tucked up in the corner of the dash on the left.

When I build the gauge pods properly, I'll post a how-to.
