Whistle noise from engine

As the title says: I have a whistle noise coming from the front end somewheres... I cant tell if its from the wheels or the engine it self, but, it only whistles when Im on the freeway when Im accelerating.

ISR ?

It just started within the past month or so, and its annoying as hell.

HELP ME

Thanks

Only on the freeway and not when you're parked and revving?
Is that whistling sound consistent at a specific speed?

May sound like a dumb question but have you added anything to the exterior in the last few months?

Try this: Get the truck up to speed where it whistles. Then put the truck in neutral and let it idle. If the whistle continues you know it's wind noise or something in the axles or rotating parts.

If the whistle goes away, rev the engine (still in neutral) to the RPM's you were travelling at. If the whistle returns it's the engine. If the whistle doesn't return it's the transmission.

This way you can determine where the noise is coming from.

I have a completely stock 97 in my possession right now, and it does the same thing. Oh, and so does my 96 at partial throttle and accelerating on the freeway.

I only get it when Im accelerating. Doesnt matter what speed really.

When I have it parked, put it in neutral and push the gas, it doesnt make noise. Which is weird.

Its only when I have the pedal down and moving. :/

-----------

I was just realizing that I have another noise which sounds almost identical ... This one is coming from the wheels and only when I coast down a hill. WTF is up with this crap.

Maybe it's an invisible turbo

That's stealth.

I don't think he is SC'd if that's what you mean. Both my non-SC'd 4Runners do what he is describing. The 97 is much worse for some reason, and no, it doesn't have a TB spacer!

It only whistles 'cause it doesn't know the lyrics.

My bug deflector whistles at anything over 35mph, but that is coasting, accelerating, etc.. If it's only on acceleration, I'd agree that it's engine or drive train.

Look at his location - that may explain his screen name....
