Where to dump used ATF???.......

I know that Auto Zone and Kragen allow you to dump used motor oil at their stores. How about Automatic Transmission Fluid?? Anyone know of a place, besides the canyon, where I can PROPERLY dispose of this gunk??? btw...i live in the SD area.

My local auto parts store allows the dumping of ATF in their waste oil bin. Best to ask for your local requirements.

Your best be will probably be the Mirimar Landfill, but you might want to check the automotive shops or dealerships first. Theres a bunch on Poway Road.

Most quick change places here will take used oil or transmission fluid as a courtesy. I have used a couple of places and they had no problem with me dumping it in their used oil bin.

If you have a small amount you can even mix it with something like cat litter so it will be solidified and just put it in your household trash that the City picks up. It will go to a lined municipal landfill. That's what OUR state regs say, so don't take my word for it. California requirements may be way different.

Just go to a Quick Lube--Valvoline instant oil change, Jiffy Lube. They will take it.

Take it to a Kragen's/Autozone...Chief's (if they are still around), any place that takes used motor oil will ususally take the tranny fluid. At least in Sacramento, that's the case I find. Just don't tell them it tranny fluid, let them figure it out...
