water in intake

Hey all, I was wheelin yesterday and took my runner into a mudhole at a little too quick. So needless to say it quit running and i got it started again and let it run and revved it up and finally got all the water through it and it ran fine. Do i need to do anything maintenence wise to get it back to normal? The K&N air filter dried out, i'll probly just clean it real good and oil it back up, but is there anything i need to check on? It seems to be running and driving normally now. Thanks.

When I did that to mine a couple of weeks ago, I pulled & cleaned the plugs, Seafoamed it, cleaned the crap out of the intake hoses, and put in a new filter. I also had to use EFI spray cleaner to clean the AFM and the throttle body as well. It ran like crap for a few days, then back to its normal self. Good luck

Just for future reference, if you actually got water in the engine, it can destroy the engine, you should remove all the plugs and crank the engine to get all the water out of the cylinders before trying to start/run the engine, if you don't remove the water, the pistons will try to compress the water and water is not compressible, so something has to give, and that is where you will damage the engine. You probably just choked the filter enough to kill the engine if it is running ok now, probably not much to do except make sure everything is pretty clean, then make sure your differentials are not filled with soupy oil/water mix.

Yup, I've seen it happen too. I did pull the plugs (and proceeded to lose one on the mud, note to self bring extra plugs) and cranked it to remove water, then let it dry out a while.

You didn't live in AZ at one point did you? I pulled a guy out of the Verde river in an Exploder and your description matches what happened to a T.

Yeah this guy wasn't hardcore or anything. In fact, he was drinking while wheeling and the liquid confidence must have coursed his veins enough to get him to attempt the crossing. He made it backwards the first time across, then he hydrolocked it on going foward on the way back. Never in my life have I seen a stranger sight than a very large dude hanging out of an Exploder in the middle of a river with water flowing over his hood.

That was a long day. Oh, he also got fined $80 for driving in the river.

Anyway, sorry for the threadjack.
