VSS location

Can anyone tell me where the VSS vehicle speed sensor is on an 89 4Runner with a V6 and 5spd. Thanks and a picture would be great.

Probably where your driveshaft goes into your transfer case or tranny, depending on whether you have 4wd or not. If you search for vss or speed sensor or something, you'll find a picture of mine for my auto tranny. But then again, mine is electronic and yours is cable.

On the earlier trucks, it is attached to the back of the speedo where the speedo cable attaches. Basically senses speed off the spinning mechanical speedo cable. Later models went to an elctronic sender in the t-case and then wires up to the dash.
