Starting Problems when Engine is Cold

I have a 1996 Toyota 4Runner 3.4Lv6 with 196,000 miles on it. I am having problems with my truck starting when the engine is cold. It takes four of five rotations for the truck to start and it sputters before it runs correctly. This incident comes and goes whenever the engine is cold. I was also wondering if you are supposed to hear the fuel pump running if u use an aftermarket fuel pump(Master) on a 4runner? Thanks a lot for your help

Try pulling your cold start injector and clean it out with brake fluid if it looks clogged up with carbon deposits. Careful that you don't over torque when replacing the mounting bolts.
