Matter of fact since it was lowered I had the dealer change the oil and I always took in Mobil 1 for them too use...they never mentioned anything too me....

I dunno, they fixed it, I sold it with 190k miles and the engine still running strong....
Well I am not sure about what year models are affected or if it's all of them. I just remember a customer bringing in synthetic oil and I changed it for them, but my bossman warned and made them sign a waver saying that if it leaks it wasnt our problem. Then the shop foreman who is almost a world class technician said GM does not recommend using synthetics for the s10s. I'm really doubtful about it but I just go with what he says. A friend of mine with an '01 S10 said it was in his manual not to use it, i dunno.

Talking RE: high mile oil

Hey all, Just throwing my 2 cents in.

I have had my 94 toy since it was new and have been running castrol gtx the whole time . And I have pushed it some times past 4000 miles before changing the oil. And I now have 162000 miles on her with little oil loss, none from leaking. I am just now seeing some oil around the valve covers.

Good luck choosing the right stuff...Jay...

I used Castrol Syntec in my bike for a couple rounds... it worked really good, but for my high performance bike I figured I better get oil specifically made for giant revs. On my 4R I just changed the oil and put in Castrol High Mileage. Castrol is by far my favorite brand of oil... NEVER any problems.
