Paint Chip

Paint Chip
OK, I have a question about filling in a paint chip. Somehow, I got a rock chip on my driver's side door. I know this sounds weird, but there is no way a car door could hit it because it is right under my side mirror.
Anyways, I have some touch up paint, and I can't manually apply it and make things look good enough for me. I was just reading another thread about applying touch up paint and buffing it. So what I was wondering, do i just apply the paint to the chip, let it stand out a little higher than the actual paint, let it dry a bit, and then buff it?
What would be the best way to make this match the best? If you recommend using certain things, tell me the product number and where best to get it. All advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've had pretty decent results using a product called Langka.
