Everytime I turn on the AC, i hear some kind of buzzing noises come from the engine. it sounds like the AC re-Charging or something. it's buzzing for about 1-2 seconds then stops and repeat very often. most of the time I hear it is when the vehicle stops.

Is this normal (it happens since I bought the truck new)? I don't hear this noise from my maxima or other vehicles.

Any ideas?

 

It may just be the compressor kicking on and off, it shouldnt be too noisy though.

 

I have owned (4) 3rd gen 4Runners and they all did this - and we use AC a lot here.

 

Mine does it evry once in a while but not too often.

Let me clarify what I hear. When the AC clutch engages and the compressor starts working, I hear a click (sort of loud from under the hood), then what sounds to me like a brief rushing of air through a distant pipe. After that, I don't hear anything until the clutch disengages (but the fan stays on). I hope that makes sense.

 

YES, that is EXACTLY what happening.

so, I guess this is normal and no need to pay dealer a visit, right. Full warranty runs out in august.
