Need help with my front brakes...

Okay okay so I am still learning the ropes on my Runner. I tried to change out my front pads yesterday with no luck. I could not get the two pins that hold the pads in out. They were super duper dry and I was afraid to spray anything on them for fear of getting it in the caliper, on the rotor ect. I got one part way out with some vise grips by turning it back and forth while pulling. Is there a special trick to doing this little project or does it just take persistence and patience? I didn't try super hard because it was getting late and I didn't really want to screw something up. Can someone point me down the road I need to take to get these suckers changed? I would just pay to have it done but I know it's not that hard to do.. Here's a pic of the pins that you can reference off of..thanks

BTW it doesn't show in the pic but I did remove the spring that goes through the holes on the backside of the pins.

I took a small screwdriver and tapped the backside of the pins. when they started to come out I used some pliers to pull them out the rest of the way. You can spray some stuff to loosen up the pins but after you are done use some brake cleaner and spray it everywhere on the brakes. it removes all the crap that builds up, and the stuff you sprayed on.

Spray everything down w/ brake cleaner. As mentioned, punch them out through the back side. A small punch works great.

Thanks for the replies.. I totally forgot about brake cleaner. I may try and tackle this next weekend.. My pads still have some life left in them but the truck pulls some when I hit the brakes that's why I want to change em out.

I like to use 000 steel wool to clean and polish mine up when I take them out. I also dab disk brake grease on the areas that need ti slide, such as the pins and a couple places on the caliper where the pad backing plate may contact.

Be careful with the anti-rattle springs when putting in new pads. They're pretty fragile I broke mine last time and the local dealer didn't have any in stock.

Everywhere I go, I hear bells.

Dude.. if you are pulling, it sounds like you need a set of calipers.. not pads. I would bet one is freezing up on you..
