Line info needed

Hey while I was trying to pin-point a knock sound I found a large hole (where a hose should be on) it is right under the EFI and I looke it up in my hayns book and is should go to a resonater (spl?) which then connects to a line and then pops in the side of the air intake hose (plastic) then goes into a hole on the air intake. I dont have any of those mentioned above. Will it harm any thing, is it just for emissions. I can get it when I give it gas it is sucking in air, when I let go of the gas you can hear it bog. Also what is the line called?

Thanks,
Mario

it "sounds" like you are referring to the "pcv hose" line that is used for "emissions" & , yes, it is something that you need & should'nt you know all of this since you looked it up in a "Haynes" book ?!?
