key or ignittion problem..cant tell which.. but cant turn key

My factory key wont go in all the way most of time. I have to give it a nice shove to get it to go in fully. Sometimes it goes right in but then wont turn. Its getting annoying and worse every time I try it. I dont think its the ignition. I think it may be the key getting twisted or something. Anyone have this problem in the past? solutions?

There are several different posts about "ignition switch" problems, so if you try the "search" feature, I'm sure that you'll come up with more possible fixes and causes than you ever thought possible, one of which is bound to cover your problem.

If not, the only thing that I can suggest would be to squirt some carbon (likepencil) into the ignition to loosen it up, if that be thw case.

Good luck.

Your key may be to wore down to drop the tumblers. Also check for burrs on the key or it may be about to break. Have a new one made and see what happens. Mike
