Does anyone know where this ground attaches
Sorry...I originally posted this in the wrong forum.
Can anyone confirm that I have the ground in the picture (pointing to it with the screwdriver) attached to the right spot. I have it bolted to the top of the frame near the AC pump.
The starter cranks slow when cold, but after the truck is hot, it cranks really slow and won't start. I just assembled this motor with mostly new parts and the starter and battery is brand new.
Is there anything else that could be causing it to crank slow, especially when the motor is hot.
Thanks...Wade

Wade,
The ground cable usually connects to the side of the engine block My son's 22RE connects to the block at the lower right (passenger) side of the engine, just behind the timing cover. The same bolts that would hold the A/C pump on.
Really, any bolt on the block should work. Just clean the paint off to bare metal.

Like Yoda said, the ground will bolt to the side of the block. Which side depends on what vehicle you have. My tacoma ground is accessible through the drivers side fender well if using a 2 foot extension. I'm not sure if that would have anythign to do with your starter cranking slowly.

what eng are we talking about? Yes grounds will have an effect on your starter, at least they did on my old jeep with a chevy 350 in it. better ground the faster the starter would turn.

yes having a bad ground will effect starter output or halt it... its always a good idea to have good ground wires... if you think your starter is slow, i would first check your battery, also try upgrading the big 3.... if that doesnt work, look into starter rebuild
