??Ceramic Brake Pads??

My local NAPA store told me about new brake pades that are ceramic based. Anyone using them? Any thoughts?

The story is they don't have brake dust all over wheels and stop better without noise.

My "new" (97 Taurus) DD needs rotors and pads and I was considering these. They are more money though.

My shop told me about them a little. Good long wearing pads, no dark break dust and they run cooler I think too. Unavailable for my Runner at the time, I later found out.

How do these compare to Carbon Metallic pads like Performance Friction pads?

Look at this site. Performance friction also sells ceramic and compares their features.

Look at the lower part of page: compare 4 types of pads

Why would anyone bother with the Ceramics? Other than dusting, they don't seem to be an improvement over the carbon metallic pads. I used the TRD carbon metallic pads and the PFC standard Carbon Metallic pads in my Paseo (yeah, I know, real hiPo car there ) and loved them.
