I guess I am running a drive by wire system...

 

Dont do what, tighten the kickdown cable, or drive it so the tranny doesnt keep up, I tightened the cable and it seemed to help, everything runs fine

 

If you look at my post I was quoting you from a previous post.
I did that with my parents' Camry and killed the tranny. I did it so much that I could almost "manually" control the transmission. Later on it got to the point where I'd reach a certain speed and the auto tranny would shift between gears constantly because it didn't know what to do.

So... don't do that whole ease off and press down accelerator thing. Bad news.

 

You can probably hook up a mechanical pressure gauge to the tranny and measure the stock line pressure, then measure it when the slack is taken up in kickdown cable. Its an old trick to firm up shifting and done with some thought is safe. As long as you don't go overboard you should be fine.

 

Yeah mine isn't tightened up much more than tightening the slack in the cable. I'm pretty sure I'll be ok.
