Well, pretty crappy start to the day. On my way to work this morning my truck was overheating. On the freeway I glanced down at my dash and notice I was at the top white mark so I pulled over right away. I was just looking for some advise on were to start trying to fix this problem.

My fan clutch doesn't seem to be grabbing at all, so I'm replacing that today
I'm going to replace the thermostat.... maybe its siezed
inspect the water pump belt... should be fine.
I know the water pump is ok, I inspected it when I did my timing chain
No blown headgasket (oil and coolant both clean, exhuast AOK)
Radiator is new from previous owner
Finding small peices of silicone in coolant (removing as they surface) .... the previous owner must have used to much somewere in the coolant system
Maybe these small peices are clogging something??? but where?

Any other thoughts guys?

 

the only thing i can think of is to get a 90916-03070 dual stage thermostat.

I would start by flushing the system and installing a new thermostat.If the fan clutch is shot by all means change it.Inspect for leaks.If its low it will over heat to.Have you changed the timing at all.Sometimes this will cause it to run a little warmer.

I think I'm just going to take the t-stat out for the summer..... I'll deal with it later when I need heat in a couple months.

I just hope I didn't damage my engine

if u need the dual stage tstat, let me know, i bought one from the dealer and then found out that the previous owner had installed the dual stage already, my problem was the hg. let me know, later.

 

If it overheated while driving-the fan is not the problem. It is not necessary to have water in oil or vice versa to have a headgasket leak - exhaust could pressurize the cooling system-it happened to me.
