what Rad for a 5.0 swap

Hey everyone!!

New to the forum, and just getting started on my 5.0 swap. i have a 85 pickup/truggy that has 1 ton axles and 42 inch tires. the motor is speed denisty out of a crown vic, and i have a R150 and dual case (2.28/4.70) that are going in as well. Im using northwest's R adapter, but im not too sure about cooling. What are you guys doing? will the factory mec. fan work, or ele. fans? I'm in new mexico and it gets hotttt!!! here.
I'll start posting pic once the adapter gets here and im pulling the truck apart.

Thanks

Fan up front or in the bed?

I'd go ahead and place the engine as far back as possible, and then see what you have for room. A GM style aluminum radiator can be had cheap, and a junkyard Taurus electric fan will cool it very well.

thanks!

Im putting the rad in the front. i was kinda thinking of just getting a rad from jegs and making mounts for it rather than spend the 425 plus bones for an AA or northwest rad. ill be putting the battery in the bed in a battery box, so that will give me room up front if i need a wider rad than the stock and i can just mount it over the frame rails. Has your r150 been holding up to the power good?

hopefully it will hold up. i talked to one of the guys at marlin last week, and he said there's guys running 800 to 1000 hp in front of stock R150's, and there just putting billet bearing retainer in them though.

I used a jeep xj radiator with v6 and put two fans on my 5.0 one electric and one manual, I did a bit of cutting but it stays really cool.
