So over in the diesel swap fourm there are a handfull of people that have swaped in VW TDI engines. Great swap most people get there kit from

This kid works for most VW 4bangers so the gas 1.8T and the 2.0 engines.
There a lot of these motors out there, and would be great to repower earler trucks.

the 1.8T have 148 to 177 hp depending on the year
The 2.0 160ish
