using stock gauges?

I have recently got a 94 toyota with a 01 4.3 swap in it and was wondering about using the stock gauges instead of the aftermarket ones the P.O has installed....(Tachometer,water temp,and oil pressure)...Has anyone retained the factory gauge cluster and made it work?

I am doing a 4.3 swap now along with a SAS. I got the V-6 swap and engine conversion from Downey and they both helped me alot so far. I do have all the gauges working including tack working with my swap. I swapped in a '96 s-10 4.3 with the 4l60e trans. You need to get a factory service manual for both engines for the computer wiring and as far as making just the enjine run and trans to operate correctly just follow the 6 wire hook up in the Downey instruction book. If you are using the trans that came with your engine"which is a good idea, so you dont have to have the computer reprogamed" on'99 and later 4l60e's trans you have to have a trans sensor also.

To answer your question, you will need to get the factory toyota sending units that came with your original engine (22re or 3vz) and use those in place of the GM sending units, using adapters. Then just hook them up to your factory wiring. If you originally had a V6, then the tach will work with no mods. 4cy you'll have to use a 5k ohm pot. The green (i think) wire going into the stock igniter is the wire you'll use for the tach signal.
