I want to drop a subaru ej25 sohc in an 82 toyota 4x4 straight axle. just an idea at this point, but i currently drive the subaru with said motor, and i think it would be perfect for a 4x4. anyone feel me on this one???

well im looking for an excuse to learn how to weld (and to make my dad buy a welder), and I can draw everything up in an autocad to see if it will fit and to design some mounts and other i might need. also i found several low mileage jdm ej25 dohc for like $400. (less torque down low tho) way cheaper than a 22re, so maybe that extra money left over can pay for the sawp. prolly not tho. well see.

maybe i should compare some 22re dyno charts to some ej25 dyno charts too. *goes to search*

You won't have to worry about the motor being too tall, just being wide.

what is the overall goal here? turn 44s on unimogs?

as far as i am concerned the 22r-e is damn near 4x4 perfection as it is. the only swap i would do is from a 22r to a 22re. and it's not really much of a 'swap' :p
